Tom
has been a Realtor since 1991. In his early
career, he became involved in Real Estate through marketing, managing and promoting
shopping centers. While attending New Mexico State University, Tom worked in the radio business, where he
developed his skills in sales and the production of radio commercials. He later became marketing director for two major
shopping center developers, out of Dallas, Texas and Indianapolis, Indiana. Tom later opened his own advertising agency
producing television, radio, print media, set design and special events. His
extensive knowledge and experience in marketing and advertising has afforded him numerous
awards and commendations.
Tom
returned to his hometown in 1986 where he began his public sector career as the Keep America
Beautiful Coordinator for the County
of Los
Alamos Park
and Recreation Department. While there, he
organized the Downtown Re-development Task Force, the Recycling Task Force, the Art in the
Park Program as well as numerous special events. In
1992, the City of Santa
Fe
hired Tom as Park and Recreation Director. In 1995, he was appointed Director of the
New Mexico State Parks. During his tenure, he was instrumental in securing over 35
million dollars for capital improvement projects throughout the state park system.
